NewsSeptember, 14 Sabre excited for 'homecoming' gigMaverick Sabre has described performing at the Arthur's Day celebrations in Dublin as a "homecoming" gig. The 21-year-old rapper, whose real name is Michael Stafford, grew up in Ireland and said he is looking forward about returning to his roots . "I am really excited, it should be a good experience. I left Ireland just when the festival got started, so I never got to experience it," he said. "I grew up in the Irish hip-hop scene so coming back now with my full band will feel like a little homecoming gig. Plus I am a fan of Guinness, taken straight." Joining Maverick at the concert on September 22 will be Ed Sheeran, Wretch 32, Labrinth, the Stereophonics, The Enemy, Scissor Sisters and Paloma Faith. "As an old-school fan of the Stereophonics, I am looking forward about seeing them. And I wouldn't mind catching Aloe Blacc and Wretch 32, so it should be good," he added. Maverick is also hoping to watch Ed and Calvin Harris on stage. "I've heard great things about the festival - it will be a magnificent experience," said the Let Me Go star. "Ed is entertaining. He is a great performer and I am a fan of Calvin. He is a great artist, I worship his voice." He plans to do some networking: "I hope to collaborate with Calvin in the future. He's got a soul vibe in dance and I'm all about soul, but if we come together, we could find that middle ground." The Arthur's Day celebrations will be marked by a series of high-profile music events and celebrations to honour the life and legacy of Arthur Guinness - the legendary philanthropist and founder of Guinness.
