N-Dubz star Dappy tops the charts

Tulisa Contostavlos has made it big as an X Factor judge - and now her cousin and bandmate Dappy is top of the charts.

This week the N-Dubz frontman has landed his first solo UK number one hit with debut single No Regrets, the title track to his forthcoming album.

Dappy knocked Simon Cowell proteges One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful off the top spot in the UK singles chart, with the boyband having to settle for number three this week.

But two other solo male artists accompanied Dappy to the higher regions of the hit parade.

R&B man Jason Derulo has It Girl in at number four, while singer/songwriter James Morrison's romantic ballad I Won't Let You Go is at number five.

And Damien Rice was up from number 39 to number nine with Cannonball, originally released in 2002, after the song was covered by 23-year-old Welsh maths teacher John Adams on X Factor last week.

There are also novelties at the very top of the albums chart.

Kasabian are back at number one with their newly released effort Velociraptor, after the Leicestershire band scored a number one hit with West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum in 2009.

American crooner Tony Bennett is in at number five with his new album Duets II, which includes the late Amy Winehouse's last recording, a rendition of jazz classic Body and Soul.

And one new arrival in the albums chart featured some familiar faces. New rock supergroup Superheavy's eponymous debut album is in at number nine, and the band includes members such as Sir Mick Jagger, former Eurythmics guitarist Dave Stewart, soul singer Joss Stone and Damian Marley, the youngest son of legendary reggae artist Bob Marley.
