Lady Antebellum keep things simple

Lady Antebellum reckon the reason they have succeeded where other country acts have failed and found success in Britain is by keeping things simple.

The Nashville-based, Grammy-winning three piece - made up of Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott - have just released their third album Own The Night, and are hoping to tour the UK next year, after a successful date last year.

Asked about a future tour, Charles said: "We really hope so. We had just one show in London, but then we want to come back next year, and play some dates in the rest of Europe too."

Asked why they thought their music had proved popular in the UK, Dave said: "We don't try to push ourselves too much, so people won't get sick of us. We don't change our songs depending on where we want to release it."

Charles added: "I don't know why, but if I was to sit and think about it, maybe it's because people are craving the simplicity of country music, as pop music has become so processed and electronic.

"It's hard to say, but hopefully people think it's honest music, and melodic too. We don't try to be the coolest band in the world because we're not the coolest people in the world."

The band only realised their popularity when they played in London last year.

Charles recalled: "We came over here last year and played at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, which sold out really quickly. We didn't really know how big the venue was, but it was amazing to see so many fans over in this country.

"It's incredible to hear how well our records sell here, which makes us want to come and spend a lot more time here."
