Andy Williams reveals cancer battle
Singer Andy Williams revealed he is battling bladder cancer.
The Tri-Lakes News reported that the 83-year-old Williams told the crowd at his show last night at the Moon River Theatre in Branson, Missouri.
The silver-haired Moon River singer, who hosted a popular 1960s US variety show, missed planned performances this autumn with an undisclosed medical condition.
Williams received a standing ovation when he appeared and told the crowd that bladder cancer "is no longer a death sentence" and that he would survive.
The paper also reported Williams has yet to start treatment.
Williams vowed to return to the stage next September and October to celebrate his 75th anniversary in show business.
The theatre's Facebook page said Williams' appearance was a surprise and that he sang a song with the show's performers.
