Second time lucky for The Script

There are two new names at the top of the UK charts as The Script and The xx celebrate a number one single and album respectively.

It was a case of second time lucky for The Script after their track Hall of Fame - which features Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am - was narrowly beaten to last week's top spot by R&B star Ne-Yo.

Meanwhile the Liverpool FC anthem You'll Never Walk Alone reached number 12 following a campaign by supporters in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disclosures.

The damning Hillsborough Independent Panel report, which was released last week, said a cover-up took place to shift the blame from bungling police and emergency services on to the 96 innocent victims of the disaster.

The campaign to boost sales of Gerry And The Pacemakers' version of You'll Never Walk Alone was sparked on Twitter by Liverpool Walton MP Steve Rotheram. He tweeted: "People have asked what they can do now. If you download You'll Never Walk Alone, it will send a message to the rest of the Country! #YNWAno1"

The MP then said: "Just spoke to Gerry Marsden who is supporting YNWAno1 and will donate any proceeding (sic) to Hillsborough charities. Great gesture. Great man."

The highest new entry in the singles' chart was X Factor 2011 finalist Amelia Lily, whose debut track You Bring Me Joy ended the week at number two despite leading the race on Wednesday, according to the Official Charts Company.

Ne-Yo's track Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself) fell to number three, while Wings by girl group Little Mix held to fourth place. Blow Me (One Last Kiss) by feisty songstress P!nk dropped to five.

In the albums chart Irish rockers The Script failed to claim total domination of this week's charts, as their new album named #3 entered at number two, with indie pop band The xx taking number one with Coexist. Veteran US singer/songwriter Bob Dylan took third place with Tempest, his 35th studio album.

Coldplay received a boost following their performance at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics as Mylo Xyloto jumped 16 places to number four, while Emeli Sande's Our Version of Events was bumped down to five.
