Winehouse family's final farewell

Amy Winehouse's family have said their final farewell to the singer as they buried her ashes.

A headstone was unveiled during the Jewish ceremony in north London at the weekend. The black stone features pink writing and a picture of a songbird, The Sun reported.

Amy died aged 27 at her North London home in July 2011, following a drinking binge.

Around 70 mourners attended the ceremony, where the Back To Black singer's father Mitch Winehouse, 61, paid tribute to his daughter's "short but dynamic" life.

Amy's ashes were laid at the plot, and will be marked with a rose. The headstone also honours her grandmother Cynthia Levy.

Friday September 14, 2012 would have been Amy's 29th birthday.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation, the charity set up by her father Mitch to provide support for "young people, especially those who are in need by reason of ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction", marked the day by revealing it has raised over £230,000 since her death.

A message posted on the website said: "Whilst the world continues to mourn the loss of a true superstar, her family - first and foremost - remember the daughter, niece and sister that is no longer with them."
