Yoko Ono reveals Meltdown names

Yoko Ono has announced the line-up of acts for Meltdown, the festival she is curating this year.

Boy George, Iggy And The Stooges, Marianne Faithfull and Siouxsie, who will be making her first performance in five years, are all on the bill at the London event.

Yoko will also take to the stage to open this year's Meltdown, performing with her Plastic Ono Band at the Royal Festival Hall in June.

And the last album released by John Lennon before he was murdered will be played in full live for the first time. The performance of the entire Double Fantasy album, which includes the hit (Just Like) Starting Over, will be on the Southbank Centre festival's closing night in London on June 23.

Other acts include Kim Gordon, Reggie Watts, Immortal Technique, Patti Smith, Savages, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Cibo Matto and electronic musician and performance artist Peaches.

Peaches will take to the stage to perform Yoko's Cut Piece, described as "a ground-breaking statement in performance art" in which the protagonist is cut from their clothes by members of the audience.

Yoko, who is curating the event on its 20th anniversary, said: "It's not only a great honour to curate Meltdown in its 20th year, it's also a lot of fun to be able to invite many of my favourite performers, activists and favourite collaborators to join me."

Previous curators of the festival, which takes place at the Southbank Centre in June, include David Bowie, Patti Smith, Scott Walker, Jarvis Cocker and Massive Attack.
