Timberlake to feature live songs

Justin Timberlake is set to include tracks he's already written and new tunes on his next album, producer Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon has revealed.

The follow-up to his best-selling record, The 20/20 Experience, is rumoured to be set for November.

"Before we came to the 10 that he wanted and the two bonus tracks (on The 20/20 Experience), we had over 30, 40 tracks. So I think he's going to go in, and we're going to take some of the stuff that we've already done, and of course create more music at the same time," the producer told Billboard.

Jerome admitted that they started work on songs four years ago, during the recording of Timbaland's 2009 LP Shock Value II, when J-Roc helped Justin with Carry Out, which eventually became his Top Five single Mirrors.

"Mirrors was something we started working on in 2009, and he just shelved it. He's like, 'I'm gonna save this one, and this is gonna go on my album'. We never knew when he was going to put it out - we were like, 'Aw man, you're in movies now!'" he recalled.

"We could have waited another 10, 15 years. But then he surprised us last year and said he was ready, and he brought Mirrors over to the project as well."

Justin confirmed speculation that there will be a second part to follow at the album's release party in Los Angeles, where he said: "This whole thing about this only being the first part... is true. There is another half."

Roots drummer Questlove later teased: "Spoiler alert. 20/20 Vol 2 comes out in Nov."
