NewsMay, 2 Sande happy to break Beatles recordEmeli Sande is celebrating after her debut album Our Version Of Events toppled the Beatles' record of spending the most consecutive weeks in the UK top 10. The 26-year-old Scottish star's album hasn't dropped out of the top 10 since its release in February 2012, staying in the UK's album chart for 63 weeks, and is the biggest selling album of that year, the Official Charts Company has revealed. "This record is so significant to me for many different reasons. I'm so happy and I'm thankful to you all. We made history!!" she tweeted. She added: "I'm completely lost for words and this is something I could only have dreamed of. The Beatles are the greatest band of all time and their legacy lives on and continues to inspire all of us that make music. "I'm so happy that so many people have connected with the stories and the songs on the record, this really is our version of events now." She has now overtaken The Beatles, who previously held the record for almost 50 years with Please Please Me, which spent 62 weeks inside the top 10 between its release in 1963 and 1964. Our Version Of Events, which features hits such as Next To Me, Heaven and Clown, has sold 1.82 million copies in the UK. The double Brit winner's chart-topping hit Next To Me was also the third most played pop song of 2012, according to UK music licensing company PPL.
