NewsJuly, 24 Basement Jaxx at Somerset House gigBasement Jaxx revealed their "pride" at performing in London as they brought the party spirit to their Somerset House gig. The British dance duo - Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe - were joined by guest singers, a ballet dancer, a carnival-style dancer and even a giant robot for the closing show of the Somerset House Summer concerts series, which sold out within an hour. Entering the stage dressed in tribal robes, with drummer Nathan 'Tugg' Curran in a native American feathered headpiece, the group opened with Hotbox (Mermaid In Salinas) before keeping the audiences entertained with crowd pleasers such as Red Alert, Oh My Gosh, Power 2 The People, Romeo, Good Luck and Where's Your Head At. The Brit-winning pair, who also played songs from their upcoming album, gave shout-outs to viewers around the world including Malaysia, Mexico, Indonesia and Turkey during the show, which was streamed live on the internet. Before the gig, Felix told radio host Lauren Laverne: "We're really excited. It's our first live internet broadcast," adding: "It's always nice to be back in London doing a gig - it's like London pride. We're right in the middle of London so it feels like there's a regal quality to the whole event." Goldfrapp, Tom Odell, Lianne La Havas, Jessie Ware and Of Monsters And Men were among the many acts who played at this year's Summer Series at Somerset House sponsored by American Express.
