3D spectacle at Latitude festival

Thousands of festivalgoers donned 3D glasses for a performance by electronic band Kraftwerk at the Latitude festival.

The headline set saw the Germans play in front of a giant 3D screen as special blue and red glasses were handed out in the main Obelisk arena.

Elsewhere, former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft drew huge crowds and dedicated his hour-long set to CIA whistleblower Edward Snowden for "fighting the Orwellian nightmare".

As he hit wrong chords and his guitar cut out at the beginning of Bittersweet Symphony, he attacked the "perceived perfection" of many modern artists and repeated the refrain: "I am not a robot, I am not a robot."

Grey and drizzly conditions marked the second day of the festival but temperatures at Henham Park, near Southwold, are expected to rise.

Indie rock band Foals will close the three-day festival tonight and comedian Eddie Izzard is expected to be another highlight.

Saturday also saw the first Latitude wedding as Nadine and Neil Smith, from Colchester, tied the knot after winning a competition run by the company Festival Brides.

The wedding took place in woods on the site and was attended by more than 80 guests. They then enjoyed a pork pie and pavlova picnic.

Hundreds gathered in the woods later for a kiss-mob in solidarity with the gay marriage bill.

Journeys to the festival were delayed on Friday as train services were disrupted when a man climbed on the roof of Ipswich train station. Some reported long delays on roads around the venue yesterday. Up to 35,000 people are expected to have attended.
