Chocolate best in Radio 1 tracklist

Chocolate by indie-rockers The 1975 has been voted the best track from the 100 most played songs on Radio 1 from the last five years.

The Manchester-based band, with Denise Welch's son Matthew Healy on vocals, had a top 20 hit with the song earlier this year.

Second was Pompeii by Bastille, Fall Out Boy was third with My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark and Starry Eyed by Ellie Goulding and Black Chandelier by Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro made up the top five.

The 100 - 20 from every year - also featured hits including The Fear by Lily Allen, What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction and Adele's Rolling In The Deep and listeners were asked to pick their favourite.

The 'A List' was played non-stop over 12 hours from 7am today (September 27) with the winner revealed on the Greg James show.

The station suspended normal programming and moved its presenters off air for 12 hours and on to social media only.

Greg said: " It's great that a load of our favourite new British bands like Bastille and The 1975 are so high up on the list and it's really exciting how we have cleared the schedule and made way for the music for an entire day.

"It's good to indulge in talking to the audience online too - as long as I get the microphone back on Monday."
