Storm Queen debuts at number one

Pop newcomer Storm Queen has been enthroned at the chart summit after the American DJ's record Look Right Through deposed last week's number one, Eminem and Rihanna.

Storm Queen - aka Statesider Morgan Geist - was among a trio of new entries in the singles top 10, with former X Factor winners Little Mix and seasoned pop star Britney Spears - with her 22nd top 10 track - also dropping records.

Look Right Through was Storm Queen's first charting single, having begun life as an underground anthem but being given a chart-friendly makeover courtesy of countryman and re-mixer Marc Kinchen, with vocals courtesy of New York singer/songwriter Damon C Scott.

Eminem, who with The Monster scored his first UK number one since collaborating with Rihanna in 2010, had to settle for a one-week stay at the summit, slipping to number two this week.

But he traded one best-selling feat for another, as The Marshall Mathers LP 2 made its debut at the top of the album charts this week.

And he made it three singles in the top 40, with album tracks Berzerk and Survival new entries, at positions 30 and 34 respectively.

There was a strong X Factor presence in the top 10, with 2011 girl group Little Mix scoring third place with Move, globe-trotting boyband One Direction at five with Story Of My Life, and last year's winner James Arthur clinging to tenth place with You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You.

Arthur's was one of eight new releases in the top 10 album chart.

The self-titled LP came in at number two, ahead of offerings by British urban star Tinie Tempah, while Andre Rieu's Music Of The Night featuring the Johann Strauss Orchestra, and vocal harmony group the Overtones completed the top five.

Last week's number one, Reflektor by indie ensemble Arcade Fire, dropped to 12.
