Kings Of Leon slam pop performances

Kings Of Leon have criticised raunchy pop performances saying they feel like "the end of the world".

Although the US band didn't name names, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga have both made headlines recently with nudity and simulated sex.

Kanye West has also released a new music video showing him being straddled by a topless Kim Kardashian, his fiancee and the mother of his child.

The Sydney Morning Herald quoted lead guitarist Matthew Followill, 29, as saying: "Some pop shows I watch, it feels like the end of the world, it's f***ing awful.

"It's not even music any more. You would never want your children to watch [shows like that] and I can't believe that younger kids, even teenagers are watching that stuff. It almost seems to be making the world a bad place."

Kings Of Leon are in Australia promoting their sixth studio album, Mechanical Bull, which topped the UK album charts and shot to number two in the US.

Bassist Jared Followill said the band did not have a rock n' roll lifestyle.

"We are the most boring band. We are polite and always show up on time and if we ever cancel it's for a good reason," he said.
