Leona Lewis got festive for album

Leona Lewis has admitted it was a bit "weird" recording her Christmas album during the summer.

The former X Factor winner taped seasonal special Christmas, With Love during the heatwave in the UK and confessed it wasn't easy to feel festive at first.

She told Elle.com: "I thought 'Oh, this is going to be so weird. How am I going to feel Christmas-y?'

"First off, I recorded it in the UK, which is not the sunniest [place]. Of course this summer was literally like the sunniest on record.

"But it ended up being a blessing in disguise because I started playing loads of Christmas songs and really kind of delving into all of these kind of classics. And I discovered some really amazing recordings that I probably never would have had I not had to really get into that kind of Christmas vibe."

Leona, 28, said X Factor boss Simon Cowell, the head of her label, came up with the idea for a Christmas record.

"I was in the mode where I wanted to be really inspired and I wanted to try something new," said the Bleeding Love singer.

"And he suggested it and it kind of came together."
