Minaj slammed for Malcolm X artwork

Nicki Minaj has been criticised for using a photo of Malcolm X with a gun in his hands, juxtaposed with a racially sensitive word, for her new single.

The rapper posted the photo for her new song, Lookin Ass N***a, on her website and Instagram page on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old was attacked on social media for using the image of the black nationalist - who was assassinated 49 years ago this month - on the cover of her single.

Minaj's personal representative declined to comment and a spokesman for her label, Universal Records, did not respond to requests for comment.

The picture was deleted from Minaj's Instagram account but was still on her website on Thursday.

A music video for the track, which features Minaj shooting guns, was released on Wednesday.
