X Factor's Tamera lands Syco deal

Tamera Foster has signed a recording contract with Simon Cowell's label, Syco Music.

The 17-year-old from Gravesend, Kent, who wowed the nation as a finalist on last year's series of The X Factor with her renditions of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing and Emeli Sande's Beneath Your Beautiful, is the youngest artist on the Syco Music roster.

Tamera, who plans to start working on new music after she completes the X Factor tour, joins X Factor winners Sam Bailey, James Arthur, Leona Lewis and Little Mix on the label as well as former acts One Direction, Olly Murs and Rebecca Ferguson.

She said: "I am so excited about being given this opportunity. I'm having an amazing time on tour but even more now, because I know straight after I can get into the studio and start to work on some new music for everyone who supports me!

"I'm very very lucky to have this chance as my first ever job and I've got so much to look forward to this year, exciting times ahead," she added.

She tweeted: "Just wanted to thank you all for the lovely things you have said and all your support, I love you all & I will work hard 2 make you proud."

Sonny Takhar, Syco Music managing director, added: "We are thrilled that Tamera has chosen Syco Music as her label home, she is a bonafide star."

Tamera, dubbed "the British Rihanna", was the last of Nicole Scherzinger's acts in the competition, finishing in fifth place on the 2013 series of the ITV show.
