NewsSeptember, 9 Carly Rae Jepsen Names Son After TV Character
Carly Rae Jepsen has hinted that she named her baby after a character from the TV show Heated Rivalry. The Call Me Maybe singer and her husband, musician Cole M.G.N., welcomed a son in March. While they kept the name private at the time, Jepsen recently shared that the show influenced their choice. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said, "It was an incredible show. Ilya is the name of my son. Maybe, not maybe because of that show." In the series, actor Connor Storrie plays Ilya Rozanov, a professional hockey player secretly involved with rival Shane Hollander, portrayed by Hudson Williams. Earlier, Jacob Tierney, the creator of Heated Rivalry, expressed interest in having Jepsen write an original song for the show. The singer-songwriter called the idea a "dream" and said she would be open to collaborating on the upcoming second season, which is currently in production. Jepsen also discussed her move from Scooter Braun's label to Interscope Records. She explained that she wanted to pursue a less mainstream direction and felt it was time to "let my freak flag fly." Her eighth studio album, Day and Night, is set for release on September 18.
