Alanis Morissette Plans Christmas Album Duet

Alanis Morissette is getting ready to record a duet with Martin Short for her first Christmas album.

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast on Wednesday, the singer said she has been assembling a collection of her favourite holiday songs.

She explained that she and her collaborators have recorded one festive track each Christmas for the past few years, and that she loves singing them. According to Morissette, she also wrote a couple of new songs, and the result is a full record.

The album, which she described as a labour of Christmas love, will feature original numbers including To an Empathic Christmas Time and Christmas on the Dance Floor, alongside traditional pieces such as What Child Is This? and Little Drummer Boy.

Morissette also hinted at a special duet with the comedy legend and fellow Canadian, saying the two of them will perform a Judy Garland song. She did not reveal which track it is.

No release date has been set for the holiday album. In 2023, the star put out a four-song EP called Last Christmas.

During the same conversation, Morissette discussed her upcoming Butterfly with a Machete residency, which begins in Los Angeles in November. She said the whole show centres on her grappling with the too muchness and telling stories.

Her tenth studio album, The Storm Before the Calm, came out in 2022.
