NewsSeptember, 10 Duran Duran Honored with Royal Mail Stamps
Duran Duran are set to become the ninth music act to receive their own Royal Mail Special Stamp issue, with the collection arriving on 17 September 2026. The stamps celebrate the band’s music, visual style, and cultural influence, timed to mark the 45th anniversary of their self-titled debut album and the breakthrough single Planet Earth. Royal Mail collaborated directly with the group on the design and artwork selection. The main set of eight stamps showcases iconic album covers from across five decades: Duran Duran, Rio, Seven and the Ragged Tiger, Notorious, Duran Duran (The Wedding Album), Astronaut, Paper Gods, and Future Past. A companion miniature sheet adds four stamps inspired by tour posters from their live career, including the Careless Memories Tour, Astronaut Tour, Sing Blue Silver Tour, and Invisible Tour. David Gold, Director of External Affairs and Policy at Royal Mail, said: “From iconic album artwork to unforgettable live performances, these stamps capture elements of the band's remarkable creative journey while recognising their lasting impact on music and popular culture. We are delighted to honour Duran Duran as one of Britain's most successful bands.” Formed in Birmingham in 1978, Duran Duran have sold over 100 million records worldwide and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. They join previous honourees in the Royal Mail series, including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, Spice Girls, The Who, and AC/DC. The stamp release coincides with a busy period for the band, following the single Free To Love with Nile Rodgers, an accompanying remix collection, and a planned autumn 2026 UK arena tour that includes a Halloween show at The O2 in London. Pre-orders for the stamps and collectible products, including a £22.50 Presentation Pack containing all 12 stamps, open on 10 September 2026 via Royal Mail's website and telephone lines ahead of general sale on 17 September.
