Ex-Oasis drummer offloading kit

Former Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll is auctioning off the drum kit he played on the band's debut album Definitely Maybe.

It will be offered for sale next month and is expected to fetch as much as £15,000.

Tony, who left the band in 1995 and eventually took them to court for a share of their profits, said: "This drum kit was used by me throughout my time with Oasis, from the very beginning during rehearsals at the Boardwalk in Manchester through touring and the recording of Definitely Maybe. I have owned the kit ever since and as it is just gathering dust, I have decided to give Oasis fans the opportunity to own it."

It is going under the hammer as part of the Pop Culture sale at Christie's in South Kensington, London, on June 20.

Released in 1994, Definitely Maybe was a huge critical and commercial hit and established the Manchester band at the forefront of the Britpop scene.

Caitlin Graham, from Christie's, said: "We are very pleased to be offering such an important piece of Oasis memorabilia in the year that marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Oasis' generation-defining album Definitely Maybe and the birth of Britpop. The critically acclaimed album sparked a revitalisation in British rock music which can still be felt today."

Also up for sale on the day is a Brit Award won by the band, whose hits include Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, which is valued at £6,000.
