NewsJanuary, 28 Shift K3Y thanks Skrillex for supportShift K3Y has thanked Skrillex for supporting at the very start of his career. The 22-year-old singer/songwriter has nothing but respect for the EDM producer-and-DJ - who has collaborated with many artists such as A$AP Rocky, The Game and Diplo - for getting behind his music in the early days when he was virtually unknown. He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Skrillex is the biggest fan of all things dance music related. You know he was like the tenth person to follow me on Twitter when I had literally 10 followers. He doesn't care about numbers, he's just there for the latest and the best dance music. Whenever I have spoken to him it's been very positive so it's nice." Shift K3Y grew up in a musical household as his dad is Chaz Jankel, the keyboard player and guitarist from Ian Dury and The Blockheads. The producer - whose real name is Lewis Jankel - is always inspired by his father's tales from his career, especially when he recalls working with legends like Sir Paul McCartney and Quincy Jones. Shift K3Y - who is currently working on his debut album - said: "The discussions that me and my dad have help me a lot. When he's talking about when he worked with Quincy Jones, or Sting or Paul McCartney. His stories of working with these people and their energy, you know, about the balance between egos, and how they were in the studio. They are the lessons that I've taken away rather than literal chords or drum beats or whatever. "It's interesting when my dad was in his 30s he was in a very similar stage in his career to what I'm doing now, he moved to LA and started making funk and R&B and dance records which is pretty similar to what I do now."
