Kanye West shares North's sweet tribute to her late grandmother

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's daughter North asked for an aeroplane so she could visit her grandmother in heaven.

Kanye took to Twitter on Tuesday (12Jul16) to pay tribute to his late mother Donda on what would have been her birthday. The rapper showed a different side to himself with a sweet message on the social media site, revealing his three-year-old daughter was also missing her grandma, who died in 2007 from complications after having cosmetic surgery.

"Nori asked if the airplane could take her to heaven to see you for your birthday, I love you mom," Kanye wrote, alongside a snap of himself and his mother.

His wife Kim also referenced Donda's birthday by retweeting a message from a fan account that read: "#HappyBirthdayDondaWest Thank you for the son you raised so beautifully. Rest Peacefully."

Kanye was incredibly close to his mother, and has done his best to honour her in various ways since her passing.

As he attended his Yeezy Season 3 fashion show in New York in February (16) Kanye wore a T-shirt which featured pictures of Donda and Kim's late father Robert Kardashian.

Above the images, the words "in loving memory" were printed.

Kanye also recently launched a video game, Only One: The Game, in which an image of his mother is seen riding a white pegasus into heaven.

"The idea is my mom travelling through the gates of heaven," Kanye explained. "If you gonna be an artist you just gotta do what’s in your heart and fight for every dream that you may dream, whatever discipline it may be. No one can tell you what field to stay in."

The rapper also previously admitted he blamed himself for Donda's death, telling Q magazine last year (15): "If I had never moved to L.A. she'd be alive. I don't want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears."
