John Legend added to BBC Music Awards line-up

John Legend will be performing at the 2016 BBC Music Awards.

The award-winning artist, who has bagged 10 Grammy Awards over the course of his career and an Oscar for Best Original song in the movie Selma, will take to the stage at London’s ExCeL centre on Monday 12 December (16).

He joins an already impressive line-up of Robbie Williams, The 1975 and Craig David.

“I'm so excited to introduce my new album to all of my wonderful fans in the U.K. and coming back in December to perform at the BBC Music Awards!" John said in a statement.

Michael Buble had been scheduled to perform at the star-studded event, but pulled out following the news his three-year-old son Noah is battling cancer. Michael is still expected to host the Brit Awards in February (17).

British acts Emeli Sande and The Kaiser Chiefs, Swedish star Zara Larsson and Danish band Lukas Graham will be performing as well.

The BBC have also announced the shortlist for the inaugural BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Performance of the Year Award. The winner will be announced at the show, which will also be broadcast live.

Live Lounge sees well known music stars cover tracks by other artists or reworked versions of their own songs.

The nominees are Christine and the Queens, Sorry (Beyonce), Craig David, Justin Bieber's Love Yourself, Emeli Sande performing Hurts, The 1975 Live Lounge Symphony for One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful and Usher, Climax.
