Panic! At The Disco singer moves house to escape fan harassment

Panic! At The Disco singer Brendan Urie has moved house to escape from what he called “constant harassment from fans”.

The singer, whose address was made public so that people could send him letters and gifts, found himself overwhelmed with attention, including unexpected visits from fans, and posted a statement online claiming he was moving his family somewhere they could feel safe.

“Three years ago I bought a house,” he wrote. “A dream home really. I had a studio built in part of the house, wrote an album there, jumped off the roof into the pool countless times. It was incredible.

“Also, during that time, since my address was public, I would receive letters and/or gifts from fans. This never bothered me. But as time progressed, so did the amount of letters. Not just letters and gifts, this soon changed into visits and constant harassment from fans. It got so bad that I didn’t feel safe in my own home.

“So it’s with this statement that I’m announcing I have moved on from what was once a safe place. That being said, I would LOVE to continue receiving your letters and gifts. SO I leave you with an address nowhere near me that I’ll have checked periodically.”

Urie has previously spoken about his anxiety issues, telling Kerrang: “If I saw someone that I admired, I would love to have that interaction. I never do, though, cause I’m an anxious fucker; but it’s really great to have that option… If I’m in an elevator and too many people get on, I’m like ‘Holy shit, get me the fuck out of here! You would never tell on the surface but inside it’s so painful I can’t even describe.”
