Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have made their love 'Instagram official' by posting a photo of themselves together online.

The pop stars, who have been romantically linked since January (17), went public with their romance for the first time on Saturday (08Apr17) after The Weeknd published a picture on his Instagram account of Selena passionately kissing him.

The steamy image has generated lots of support from fans, who left sweet messages on the post for the musicians.

"WOW this is great!!!!!" one fan wrote, with another commenting: "So happy for you both."

The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, and Selena were also spotted together at a friend's party on Friday (07Apr17) night showing public displays of affection.

According to E! News, the cute couple appeared to be enamoured with each other as they celebrated Canadian rapper Belly's birthday at the star-studded Los Angeles bash, attended by the likes of Drake, Amber Rose, Ashlee Simpson, Big Sean, French Montana and Tyga.

"Selena and The Weeknd were very sweet together and mellow," the source said. "They were sitting together by a fire pit and never left each other's side. He was kissing her forehead and holding her hand. They weren't drinking, just eating pizza and chatting. People were partying hard, but Selena and the Weeknd really stayed low-key and off to the side. They danced a little bit and walked around holding hands. They took selfies and then cuddled up together. They were really focused on each other and look very serious and in love."

The insider added: "The party went late into the night and they brought out a cake for Belly near the end. Selena and The Weeknd left after that. Most people didn't leave until after 3am."
