The Masked Singer UK eliminates footballing legend
Joel Dommett and his band of merry Masked Singers returned for another round of head-scratching fun tonight (January 16).
Stood in front of Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall, the costumed celebrities were whittled down to one once again, with Grandfather Clock having to take off the mask this time around.
And out stepped retired football player and manager Glenn Hoddle.
Catching up with presenter Joel after his unveiling, the former England national team coach commented on the panel's incorrect guesses: "They were so close, I thought anytime now they were gonna nail it, but you know... they didn't clock me!"
Asked what it was like to be the Grandfather Clock, Glenn went on to add: "It [the costume] was so endearing, wasn't it? When I saw it, I just fell in love with it - it was beautiful.
"It's been a bit surreal. It's been great fun I've loved it."
Applauding the surprise singer, panelist Jonathan quizzed Glenn on what drew him to participate in the series.
"I've always loved singing and when the opportunity came I thought: 'Okay let's do it'," he revealed, before suggesting that being onstage gave him a dry throat as opposed to the easiness of belting lyrics out at home.
The Masked Singer continues next Saturday (January 23) on ITV.
