The Voice UK's Olly Murs hangs up on phone after being asked about Masked Singer UK speculation
The Voice UK star Olly Murs has responded to speculation that he is Robin on The Masked Singer UK… and decided to hang up the phone. Yep.
Well, to be fair to the singer, he did outright deny it – but the fact that Olly pulled out of a radio interview while the evidence was being racked up sounded a tad… suspicious.
During a chat with Mark Wright on Heart, the presenter asked the star if he had heard of The Masked Singer, Olly joking: "Yeah, it's on before The Voice, obviously it's the support act...".
However, Mark then asked him directly whether he was Robin – following intense fan speculation – and the singer replied: "Course I'm not".
"But are you actually not?" Mark asked again, Olly adding: "Well, I mean... I can't actually… if I was Robin I wouldn't be able to tell you, would I? I'm definitely not the Robin, what else do you want me to say? Definitely not me."
However, Mark was not going to let it lie down so easily, asking him to sing 'Can't Stop the Feeling' before playing the Robin's version of the song to show the similarities.
"Mate I've got to go sorry…" Olly then said as he hung up the phone.
"I think we've stitched him!" Mark admitted. "I think we've got him… I think we've cracked the Robin on The Masked Singer!"
Olly's denial comes after Kym Marsh also shut down speculation that she is Harlequin on The Masked Singer UK, while a host of other celebrities such as Courtney Act, Chris Kamara, Michelle Visage and Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have also responded to rumours.
