Jessie J 'set to represent UK at Eurovision 2022' after nul point humiliation

Jessie J is in talks to fly the flag for the UK at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest after this year’s abysmal ’nul point’ humiliation.

Reports claim the chart topping hit maker is being lined up to sing for the UK at next year’s contest – which will be held in Italy after rock band Måneskin romped to victory last month.

The 33-year-old singer is something of a vocal powerhouse and has sold over 20 million singles and 3 million albums worldwide.

While Jessie is said to be top of the list for British talent to parachute in to the 2022 contest, it might prove difficult finding time for the star to represent the UK as she is gearing up to release a new album.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “The production team are desperate to make a fresh start after this year’s flop and are trying to lure top talent with promises of lucrative record sales and international exposure.

“They are determined to come back fighting and think Jessie would be perfect. She has a huge following in Europe.

“But Jessie is in demand, so pinning her down might be harder than they think.”

Jessie would be the first female singer the UK would send since 2018 contestant SuRie – who famously had her performance disrupted by a stage invader when performing at the final in Portugal.

On Friday Jessie released her new single, I Want Love, which is the lead single of her forthcoming fifth studio album.

The singer has a track record of performing well in talent contests as she won the Chinese equivalent of The X Factor back in 2018.

She featured on the sixth season of I Am A Singer and won over 13 other contestants – becoming the first ever international star to win the contest.

The show is a ratings smash in China and reports suggested one billion people saw Jessie’s winning rendition of Dolly Patron’s classic single I Will Always Love You when she romped to victory at the time.

The UK bottomed out at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest when singer James Newman failed to secure a single point after performing his song Embers.
