NewsJanuary, 30 Stevie Wonder and Janelle Monáe to honour Quincy Jones at 2025 Grammy AwardsStevie Wonder and Janelle Monáe will headline a tribute to the late Quincy Jones at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The legendary composer, conductor, and record producer died at the age of 91 last November following a battle with pancreatic cancer. In an interview with Rolling Stone, executive producer Raj Kapoor revealed Stevie and Janelle will lead the celebration of Quincy's legacy as part of the in-memoriam segment during the upcoming ceremony, with Cynthia Erivo, Herbie Hancock, and Lainey Wilson to also feature. "The entire Grammys could have actually been Quincy Jones. The wealth of work, the wealth of genres, the amount of music that he has touched - he really is the dude," he praised, referencing Quincy's 1981 album, The Dude. "We've been working on creating something really special. We've had so many artists that have wanted to participate. I think it's going to be one of the definitive performances of the show, (showing) how much love we have for him as a music community." Meanwhile, officials from the Recording Academy announced on Wednesday that Brad Paisley, Brittany Howard, Coldplay's Chris Martin, Jacob Collier, Sheryl Crow, and St. Vincent will take part in "touching tributes celebrating the spirit of the city of Los Angeles" amid the wildfires. Accordingly, Kapoor reflected on how the showrunners want to highlight the city's resilience amid the devastation. "I think we have a stronger sense of community than we have had for a very long time. There's a film piece that is going to honour Los Angeles," the producer continued. "I think the opening of the show is definitely going to touch on our love for Los Angeles. We're putting a spotlight on small businesses that may have been impacted by the fires." Earlier this month, leaders at the Recording Academy and MusiCares launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort To Support Music Professionals impacted by the crisis and made a combined pledge of $1 million (£800,000) to kick off the efforts. Previously announced performers for this year's ceremony include Benson Boone, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, Doechii, RAYE, Sabrina Carpenter, Shakira, and Teddy Swims. The 2025 Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on 2 February.
