NewsJanuary, 30 Charli XCX reflects on being overlooked at past GrammysCharli XCX has shared her thoughts on being overlooked by the Grammy Awards in the past. The 32-year-old British singer stands to win seven awards at the 2025 ceremony this weekend - including Album of the Year and Record of the Year. It marks the end of a long wait to be recognised for the singer who has been churning out music since 2008. At the 2015 awards, the singer was nominated twice for Fancy, her duet with Iggy Azalea who served as the lead artist - but Charli is convinced those in charge of the awards had no idea who she was until she released her 2024 album Brat. Speaking to W Magazine, she insisted, "Let's be real. I wasn't even on the Grammys' radar last year, so it's not something I ever expected." Admitting she is flattered to be nominated in seven categories, the Von Dutch singer insisted that she is focused on having fun at the event. She said, "My dream scenario would be getting a plus-10 so I could bring all my best friends.... Realistically, I'll probably get a plus-one. Maybe (frequent collaborator) Troye (Sivan) and I can share and make it a plus-two." And insisting she will have a great night regardless of the outcome, she quipped, "Wherever I am becomes fun anyway, so I'm sure I'll figure it out." The 67th Annual Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on Sunday 2 February.
