Mariah Carey to headline Brighton Pride 2025

Mariah Carey is set to headline this year's Brighton Pride festival.

It was announced on Thursday that the pop icon will take to the stage at Pride on the Park in Preston Park, Brighton, on 2 August as the main event of the U.K. festival.

The news comes five years after Mariah was announced as the headliner for the 2020 edition of the summer festival, before it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The announcement was shared on the event's official social media accounts.

"@MariahCarey, the Queen of the Lambs, is coming to Pride On The Park 2025!" the post read. "A performance we've been waiting five years for is finally upon us and we promise we're going to make it worth the wait. Stay tuned - more acts coming soon!"

In a video as part of the post, Mariah said, "I can't wait to see all of your beautiful faces at Pride on the Park 2025. It's going to be a scorcher."

The event will mark the Always Be My Baby hitmaker's first live show in the U.K. since 2019, when she performed a series of gigs at London's Royal Albert Hall.

In a separate statement, Brighton Pride managing director Paul Kemp described Mariah as a "global icon".

"We were so excited to have her join us in 2020 and absolutely gutted the show couldn't go ahead due to pandemic restrictions that summer," he said. "Pride is always an amazing weekend of celebration and inclusiveness of our city, and this year is going to be incredibly momentous."

Pride on the Park 2025 will take place on 2 and 3 August.

The news comes a day after it was announced that Mariah has been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the second year in a row.
