Aerosmith stars and Yungblud honour Ozzy Osbourne at MTV VMAs

Aerosmith stars Steven Tyler and Joe Perry led a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Sunday night.

In a video introduction, Ozzy's son Jack Osbourne thanked the musicians, as well as Yungblud and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, for taking part in the medley in honour of the Black Sabbath rocker, who died on 22 July aged 76.

"I wish we could be there with you all tonight as you celebrate my dad's amazing musical journey," Jack said while surrounded by his four daughters. "I know for sure it would make him incredibly happy to see these great musicians carry on his legacy and help inspire the next generation of rockers."

To conclude the video, the reality TV star and his children shouted in unison, "In the words of our Papa, let's go crazy!"

Yungblud - real name Dominic Harrison - kicked off the tribute by performing 1980's Crazy Train and 1972's Changes with Bettencourt on guitar, before Steven and Joe offered up an emotional version of 1991's Mama, I'm Coming Home.

At the end of the medley, the artists hugged and Yungblud yelled out, "Ozzy forever, man!"

The performance comes six months after Steven and Joe announced Aerosmith would no longer tour as a result of the 77-year-old frontman having suffered a vocal injury two years prior.

Upon learning of Ozzy's death, a representative for Aerosmith shared a heartfelt statement via Instagram.

"We're heartbroken to hear about the passing of our brother in rock, Ozzy Osbourne. A voice that changed music forever," they wrote. "From Black Sabbath to his solo work, Ozzy redefined what it meant to be heavy. He did it all with heart, grit, and that wild spirit only he could bring. Our love goes out to Sharon, his family, his band, and the millions around the world who felt his fire."
