NewsSeptember, 16 Mark Ronson: 'Amy Winehouse was a fireball of inspiration'![]() Mark Ronson has described Amy Winehouse as a "fireball of inspiration". The music producer recalled working with the late singer in a new interview with the BBC. Ronson claimed he was warned against a collaboration, but insisted they instantly clicked in the recording studio. "I remember some of my friends saying, 'Oh, you're working with Amy? Good luck. She's been working on this album for three years'," he recalled of the singer's award-winning 2006 album Back to Black. He continued, "But when we got in the studio, she was such a fireball of inspiration. We demoed three or four songs, we wrote Back to Black, she wrote Rehab... All these things in five days. It's a lot of incredible memories." While his collaborations with Winehouse felt effortless, Ronson admitted some of his other hits were a labour of love. The star revealed the award-winning track Uptown Funk took seven months to finish, while Dua Lipa's Dance The Night was rewritten "five or six times with different hooks". Ronson also touched upon his interactions with P Diddy, aka Sean Combs, who was recently found guilty of two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution. Diddy gave Ronson one of his early career breaks, when he hired him to DJ at a series of A-list events. "It's undeniable that the way he picked me for certain gigs elevated my star," he shared, before labelling the accusations against Diddy "horrific". However, Ronson also made it clear he barely knew the rapper. He insisted: "In the five years I DJ'd for him, I doubt he spoke more than five sentences to me."
