Violet Grohl: 'I don't care if people call me a nepo baby'

Dave Grohl's daughter Violet Grohl has revealed she "doesn't care" if people call her a nepo baby.

In a new interview with The Forty-Five, the 19-year-old singer-songwriter admitted being the offspring of the Foo Fighters frontman has helped her fledgling career.

However, Violet refuses to let the 'nepo baby' label hinder her success and is determined to prove she's a serious artist in her own right.

The emerging artist revealed, "Obviously, doors are open for me because of my last name. It's not something I'm ever going to hide behind or say, 'No, I worked so hard for this! You guys shouldn't say that! That hurts my feelings.'"

She continued, "I don't care, I really don't."

Having grown up in the public spotlight, the artist admitted she's become used to the nepo baby label.

Violet lamented, "I've heard that since I was 13 years old. So call me a nepo baby all you want. It's 'whatever' to me. I just hope that eventually people will give me a shot."

The eldest daughter of Dave and his wife Jordyn Blum is currently preparing for the May release of her debut album Be Sweet to Me.

Having dropped new single 595 last month, Violet has previously revealed her music is inspired by alternative rock groups from the 80s and 90s, including the Pixies and Soundgarden.

With a series of live performances scheduled for this year, including Reading and Leeds Festival in August, Violet remains confident that music fans will give her more respect once they see her on stage.

"Come see me live. Come listen to my music and then you can decide for yourself if I'm worthy of this career or not," she challenged her sceptics.

In a radio interview earlier this year, proud father Dave insisted he had "no idea" Violet had signed a record deal and is "totally uninvolved" with her career.
