Dangerfield to create Facebook song

Guillemots frontman Fyfe Dangerfield is aiming to create a song from scratch using ideas from hundreds of tweets and Facebook messages in just 24 hours.

The musician began taking suggestions at 9am today (July 4) for the charity fundraising track - to be called Superinjunction - with lyrics, sound effects and samples.

He hopes the track, made in conjunction with Q magazine, will set a new world record for a song completed with the largest number of contributors in the shortest time.

Fyfe will begin assembling the song from 2pm with the finished track to be made available on iTunes, with proceeds going towards War Child.

He is being challenged to distill the ideas from readers and other musicians, as well as arrange and record the track, in a 24-hour period.

He said: "Monday and Tuesday are going to involve a lot of coffee. I can't wait. It shouldn't work, but it will."

Q editor in chief Paul Rees said: "Obviously it would take a special sort of musician to rise to a challenge of this sort - and we had no doubt Fyfe Dangerfield would take it."
