P Diddy a dab hand with paint brush

P Diddy may be a multimillionaire media mogul, but he showed he does not mind getting his hands dirty as he visited a youth centre.

The US rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs, and his Diddy-Dirty Money colleague Dawn Richard helped paint a wooden crate and arranged planters in east London.

They were doing their bit as Orange RockCorps volunteers - which encourages donating time to charity and community work - at the Toffee Park Adventure Playground and Youth Centre in Clerkenwell.

Diddy - dressed in black and wearing shades - said he is a dab hand with a paint brush, saying: "Painting was one of my first jobs when I was 10. I was always painting during the summer - I had to paint in 150-degree heat."

Advising the volunteers to "keep the painting smooth", the 41-year-old added: "Everybody laughs because I started working when I was 10 years old. I had to start working early. I've done soup kitchens and other volunteer work."

His group Diddy-Dirty Money are performing at the 2011 Orange RockCorps gig at Wembley Arena, alongside Primal Scream, Kelis, Professor Green and Eliza Doolittle.

Tickets to the one-off live concert are earned in exchange for donating four hours of time to charity work.

"Somebody taught me a long time ago that the greatest gift you can receive is to give something," explains Diddy.

"One of the things we need now in the world is to help each other out, and this is a prime example, especially with kids taking prime responsibility in their own communities to give back and work together."
