Adele 'favourite for Bond theme'

Adele has been named the fans' favourite choice to record the new James Bond theme tune.

The Rolling In The Deep songstress was voted the top pick to sing the song for Skyfall, the upcoming 23rd instalment of the spy series, by 5,000 readers for entertainment website IGN.com.

Rockers Muse came second in the poll, followed by Foo Fighters, U2 and Florence + The Machine.

Lana Del Rey, Guns 'N Roses, Karen O and Rihanna completed the top 10.

Chris Tilly, the website's entertainment editor, said: "If producers are still not sure about their choice to sing the next Bond theme, the fans are clearly backing Adele.

"She's a global superstar and clearly has the vocal talent to produce a big Bond song reminiscent of Shirley Bassey and Lulu, rather than the forgettable misfires recorded more recently by the likes of Garbage and Madonna."

In an interview with Jonathan Ross, Adele appeared to hint that she would be returning to the studio to record a film theme song, but there has been no official confirmation what film that is for.

Daniel Craig is back to reprise his role as James Bond for Skyfall, which is being directed by Sam Mendes, and will be joined by Dame Judi Dench, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes.
