NewsJanuary, 16 Primal Scream to play WickermanPrimal Scream will headline this year's Wickerman Festival. Organisers announced a "sometimes surprising mix" of musicians, playing across genres of dance, electronica, rock, indie, reggae and punk on Friday July 26 and Saturday July 27. Primal Scream started their career in Glasgow 25 years ago. They will top the bill on the first night of the Dumfries and Galloway music festival as it celebrates its 12th year in summer. On the Friday Primal Scream will revisit their back catalogue as well as playing tracks from their new album, their first in five years. Wickerman will be their only Scottish festival date of the year. The two-day event climaxes on Saturday July 27 with the traditional lighting of the 40ft Wickerman sculpture as festivalgoers party into the early hours. Also joining the line-up are critically acclaimed duo Public Service Broadcasting to showcase their mix of archive samples, electronic beats and live audio visual transmissions. Festival co-ordinator Helen Chalmers said: "Primal Scream are one of Britain's most iconic, inventive and exciting bands and having them play at Wickerman is a major coup, both for the festival and its fans. "Once again the full line-up will feature an eclectic and sometimes surprising mix of leading artists, alternative acts and exciting emerging talent. So whether its Primal Scream or Public Service Broadcasting stirring up the crowds with sizzling sets, we are certain that Wickerman 2013 will be one of the most relaxed, fun and friendly festivals of the summer." More artists will be announced in the lead-up to the festival. Tickets for Wickerman went on sale in November and are available online or from selected retail outlets.
