Alexandra Burke sings the blues

Alexandra Burke is set to perform a musical tribute to Billie Holiday.

The X Factor winner is taking a jazzy new musical direction with a five-night residency at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Broken Heels singer Alexandra is going to be singing the soundtrack from the 1972 movie Lady Sings The Blues with a full live jazz band.

The film told the story of Billie Holiday's life and starred Diana Ross, featuring jazz and blues.

Alexandra, 24, said: "I am so excited to be performing these concerts in such an iconic venue.

"It is an honour to be able to sing Billie Holiday's songs and I feel a very strong emotional attachment to them.

"Music is my life and I love doing different and surprising things, so I can't wait to get on stage and sing these amazing and timeless songs."

Her performances are part of the Royal Albert Hall's More At The Hall series where visitors can see a range of events outside of the main auditorium.

Alexandra will be singing her Billie Holiday tribute in the venue's Elgar Room from June 4 to June 8.
