NewsMarch, 26 Alexandra Burke sings the bluesAlexandra Burke is set to perform a musical tribute to Billie Holiday. The X Factor winner is taking a jazzy new musical direction with a five-night residency at London's Royal Albert Hall. Broken Heels singer Alexandra is going to be singing the soundtrack from the 1972 movie Lady Sings The Blues with a full live jazz band. The film told the story of Billie Holiday's life and starred Diana Ross, featuring jazz and blues. Alexandra, 24, said: "I am so excited to be performing these concerts in such an iconic venue. "It is an honour to be able to sing Billie Holiday's songs and I feel a very strong emotional attachment to them. "Music is my life and I love doing different and surprising things, so I can't wait to get on stage and sing these amazing and timeless songs." Her performances are part of the Royal Albert Hall's More At The Hall series where visitors can see a range of events outside of the main auditorium. Alexandra will be singing her Billie Holiday tribute in the venue's Elgar Room from June 4 to June 8.
