One Direction visit Newcastle Utd

One Direction rubbed shoulders with football stars when they visited Newcastle United's training ground.

The boyband made a low-key visit to the Premier League side's base in the Benton area of the city ahead of their final night of a series of concerts at Newcastle's Metro Arena.

Newcastle United players met the group ahead of a training session.

The club and the band have a tenuous link through the TV show X Factor.

One Direction were finalists on the programme, while United right back Danny Simpson is dating judge Tulisa Contostavlos.

After the meeting, Danny posted a photo of Harry Styles in which the One Direction singer was posing topless, showing his tattoos.

Danny called him a "proper safe guy".
