Mumford to play Olympic Park gig

Mumford And Sons have announced that they will headline a show at the Olympic Park this summer.

The Grammy-winning band's gig at the London venue on July 6 will be their biggest ever headline show, reported NME.

The Lover Of The Light singers have also chosen other acts - including Vampire Weekend, Ben Howard and Haim - to join them at the outdoor concert.

Mumford's Ben Lovett said: "We wanted to do something special, more than just another arena date. So when the opportunity to do this came about, and the opportunity to pick a line-up of bands we feel really strongly about, we were naturally pretty excited."

He said picking the acts they wanted to take part was "a no-brainer" for him and his bandmates Marcus Mumford, Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane.

"We've been wanting to do something with Vampire Weekend since we first played with them in 2009. They're a phenomenal band, one we're really proud to bring over for this," he said.

"There were no arguments among us when it came to throwing the line-up together - all the acts were ones we feel really strongly about and always have on in the dressing room and so on, so it was a no-brainer. It's going to be a pretty wild night."

The event will be the first headline show to take place on the renovated Olympic site.
