No swearing for Plan B in live gig

Plan B's has confessed he had to relearn all his songs for his latest gig - as he wasn't allowed to swear.

The iLL Manors star - whose real name is Ben Drew - was watched by 2,000 fans including X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger, Diana Vickers and Leah Wood as he launched O2's 4G network at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in London. The gig was streamed live at screens in Victoria and Kings Cross stations and at Westfield Shepherd's Bush.

Before the show, the 29-year-old rapper admitted his concerns about turning the air blue, saying: "I've been told I can't swear, so I have to relearn my songs without the swear words or swap them around with words that aren't offensive.

"So now I'm nervous and a bit on edge because I'll either swear accidentally or by not wanting to swear, I'll mess up my lyrics and forget the sentences."

Ben performed tracks from his three albums - Who Needs Actions When You Got Words, The Defamation Of Strickland Banks and iLL Manors - accompanied by a backdrop of a montage of scenes from the iLL Manors film during the 90-minute-long set.

"It's good to be back in this venue. I took time out from my holiday to play but it's alright, because Shepherd's Bush is a nostalgic place for me - it was the first proper headlining gig in London on my first tour in 2007 so it's a silver lining," he said.

He later joked that he forgot to sing two tracks because he "was in a rush", and returned to the stage for an encore as the crowds roared his name.
