Kings of Leon light up V Festival

US band Kings of Leon crowned their first performance at this weekend's V Festival with a spectacular light and laser show.

Fans clapped and cheered as the Grammy-winning rockers took to the stage at the Weston Park venue in Staffordshire this evening.

The band kicked off with Kick The Bucket before finishing the night with classics including Sex On Fire.

A sell-out crowd of 85,000 people packed into the park today despite the rain showers.

Colourful macs and wellies were plentiful as patches of mud began to make an appearance at the festival.

Also wowing the crowds were the Saturdays, who kicked off the day. The band, sporting cropped tops and shorts along with towering high heels, were missing Frankie Sandford, who is heavily pregnant, but a fifth microphone could be seen in her spot on the stage.

Other acts including Calvin Harris, The Vaccines, Emeli Sande, Basement Jaxx and Scouting For Girls were also among those who played today.

The band 5ive, who reformed last year after a 11-year-break, also played to a packed tent at their first festival appearance.

Meanwhile Seasick Steve, who also performed today, was seen among the crowds watching Stereophonics, who played Graffiti On The Train along with favourites including Dakota and Bartender And The Thief.

Sunday will see Beyonce headline along with The Script and Jessie J, who played at the festival's other site in Chelmsford on Saturday.
