Bruno Mars to headline Super Bowl

Bruno Mars is set to give the half-time performance at the 2014 Super Bowl.

The Locked Out Of Heaven singer will be drafted in to entertain crowds at American football's biggest event according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bruno confirmed the news at an announcement in Times Square and later posted a video montage to his YouTube channel of his rise to fame from a childhood Elvis impersonator to a worldwide superstar.

Despite it being a big date on the calendar for sports fans, the most-watched programme on US TV is often overshadowed by viewing figures for its own Halftime Show.

Previous acts have included Madonna, whose 2012 performance was the most-watched event in US TV history, and Beyonce who attracted 110.5 million viewers in 2013.

The Super Bowl will be held in the New York area on February 2 and in the run up to the event there will be a series of concerts in New Jersey and at least four of the five New York boroughs.
