NewsDecember, 19 Tedder surprised by Beyonce releaseBeyonce's new album was so secret, one of its producers only knew of its release 90 minutes before it dropped. The pop star surprised her fans when she unveiled her fifth, self-titled album on iTunes last week, completely out of the blue. Ryan Tedder produced the single XO, and revealed he only learned about the release an hour-and-a-half before it went public. "I knew 90 minutes before it dropped. Ninety minutes," said the OneRepublic frontman. "And I said nothing because I love Beyonce and I don't want her to hate me. "I heard a rumour and then I didn't say anything. I told my wife, 'I think Beyonce's album is dropping in 90 minutes,' and then I knew that XO was on the album. I knew it was a single. I didn't know if it was first or second." With 14 songs and 17 videos, Beyonce's digital record included collaborations with husband Jay Z, Drake and Frank Ocean, and the final track Blue features her daughter Blue Ivy. It became the fastest-ever seller on iTunes with more than 800,000 downloads in its first three days. Ryan, 34, said he's not surprised by the RnB star's success - especially after seeing her live show. "Me and my whole band, who are just complete sceptics and like, you know, a bit snobby, we just sat there going..." said the star, dropping his jaw."Like somehow we have to step our game up and be more like Beyonce."
