Marr: Why change for new album?

Johnny Marr has promised that his new album will be full of himself, "buildings and paranoia".

The former Smiths guitarist, 50, said the new material he was working on would be more of the same of what fans have come to expect from him.

Asked what his upcoming solo album would be like, he replied: "More songs about buildings and paranoia. Why change?"

Johnny also spoke about his work on the soundtrack to the new Amazing Spider-Man film, saying he was glad to be working so much.

He said: "I'm in the studio doing my new solo record so I'm in deep doing that, I'm a little rabbit in the headlights because I'm in the studio. I've just been working on the new Spider-Man film as well, finishing that off, so keeping busy, yeah. Good to be working, I like working."

On the subject of collaborations, he added: " Not on the new record. I've been writing a bit with Pharrell Williams on the Spider-Man film, so that kind of takes care of my collaboration itch. But on my own record, no. It's all me, me, me, me, me, me."

Johnny's first solo album, The Messenger, was released in February 2013 and 10 years earlier he released Boomslang as the only album from Johnny Marr + the Healers.
