Damon Albarn: Blur will play again

Damon Albarn has said that Blur will perform live again - and that he could release a new Gorillaz record "next week".

The Britpop star dismissed rumours that the band have played their final shows, saying they would be "mad" not to get together again.

It was reported earlier this year that Damon had said a cancelled appearance at a festival in Australia was set to be the Parklife chart-toppers farewell performance.

But he told NME: "Everything is good between us all. I'm sure we'll play again at some point. It'd be mad to go the rest of our life and never play any of those songs again."

The star also said that there would be a new Gorillaz album in future.

"I can definitely see another Gorillaz-esque record at some point. That will almost definitely happen.

"I could put a Gorillaz record out next week; I've got enough stuff I haven't finished," he told NME.

He said of his relationship with artist and Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett: "There are points in every relationship where they fall out with people that they're close to and then they reconcile, hopefully, and actually, you know the relationship's probably in a healthier place as a result of that."
