NewsApril, 11 Weller joins T In The Park line-upPaul Weller is set to rock out at T In The Park, after signing up to perform. The Modfather, who was on the festival's original bill in 1994 at Strathclyde Park and played the first year it moved to Balado in 1997, will return to the Scottish festival for the first time in eight years, organisers have announced. He will be joined by his own musical hero, Wilko Johnson, and Grammy-winning group Soul II Soul, who will make their debut at the Balado festival as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations. Soul II Soul frontman Jazzie B said: "Looking forward to having a cup of T In The Park!" Former frontman of The Jam and The Style Council, Paul went down in festival history when Noel Gallagher unexpectedly joined him on stage to play songs from Paul's back catalogue, including an impromptu acoustic set of The Jam's classics, in 2001. The festival's director Geoff Ellis said: "Paul Weller is a true icon of British music and a huge favourite with T In The Park fans, having played many a memorable set throughout the festival's 21-year history. "When Wilko Johnson takes to the stage I think it'll be a very special moment - he's had a seminal influence on the country's music scene, and is one of Weller's own heroes. Soul II Soul were similarly groundbreaking when they rose to prominence in the 80s, and their set will be pretty spectacular also." Other acts that will play at the three-day musical event include Charli XCX, Neon Jungle, Earl Sweatshirt, King Charles and The Amazing Snakeheads. Calvin Harris, Paolo Nutini, Pharrell Williams, Biffy Clyro, Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand are among the other highlights for this year's T In The Park, which runs from July 11-13 and is sponsored by Tennent's Lager.
