Simon Cowell 'told Louis Tomlinson to man up over baby news'

Simon Cowell has reportedly revealed how he advised Louis Tomlinson to enjoy impending fatherhood.

The X Factor head judge, who has a one-year-old son Eric with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, apparently told the 23-year-old One Direction singer to “man up” and said he should feel blessed over reports that stylist Briana Jungwirth is expecting Louis’ child.

According to The Sun On Sunday, Simon said: “I said to him, ‘You man up. You’re fortunate because you’re in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that’.

“But I also told him, ‘I’ve received bad calls in my life, but this is not one of them. This is your business, but I’m here for you’.”

One Direction signed with Simon’s record label Syco Records after they formed and finished third on The X Factor in 2010.

According to the newspaper, Simon said the baby news will not tarnish the boyband’s image, despite many fans reacting in shock.

“He didn’t kill anyone. He got someone pregnant,” the 55-year-old TV mogul explained.

“It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it’s a plus, not a negative.”

Simon also revealed Louis and the remaining members of One Direction – Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Harry Styles – plan to take a break in 2016.

The group, who have been a foursome since Zayn Malik left in March, have been working on their fifth album, which is due for release later this year.

“In terms of the band, they’ve got enough hits now they can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do,” he said.

“Then I hope they’ll have a little bit of time apart and want to get back together again. It’s a fun job, but it’s absolutely their decision.”
